When it’s time to get junk gone, many customers consider both dumpster rental and full-service junk removal options. Each option has its pros and cons, and the appropriate choice will vary based on the job and the customer. Here are a few things to consider about each of the options:
When you’d prefer to clear out the junk yourself, renting a dumpster is the way to go. This option is particularly helpful if you need to take an extended period of time to fill the dumpster. For example, if you are completing a remodel project that will continue to produce waste over a period of time and you don’t have a reasonable place to store the debris until the project is completed, a dumpster may be your best option. Dumpsters are typically available in 10 yard, 20 yard, 30 yard, and 40 yard sizes.
If you go this route, just be sure to consider the following factors:
Do you need a permit? In some areas you may need to secure a permit for your dumpster. The dumpster rental company should be able to provide you with this information.
Do you have room to appropriately place the dumpster without causing damage? Fully loaded dumpsters can weigh several tons, and that weight can wreak real havoc on driveways, yards, and pavements.
What are the weight and time restrictions enforced by the rental company? Nearly all rental companies enforce restrictions on the amount of weight that can be loaded and the amount of time you can keep the dumpster before incurring additional fees. Be sure to understand those limitations up front in order to understand whether the option is compatible with your project.
Full Service Junk Removal
Much like renting a dumpster, junk removal companies can be helpful in clearing household clutter, furniture, appliances, yard waste, construction/demolition/remodel debris or general junk and rubbish removal. The difference is that the heavy lifting is all done for you, and the junk removal is all done in a matter of minutes or hours depending on the size of the job.
As a general rule of thumb, Junk Removal Service will be the more cost effective option for small jobs when you do not have enough to fill a 10 yard dumpster. Dumpster Rental becomes more cost effective for larger loads as you are performing the labor yourself. But not so fast! Consider this:
According to Fixr.com, the National Average for a 20 yard dumpster rental for 10 days including a street permit is $530. You can compare that to G.I. Junk Removal pricing here to see how our 22 yard trailer with full service is actually LESS expensive than doing the work on your own!
